Poem -
Lift my soul to heaven
Father I look towards the heavens as the angels proclaim
LORD JESUS lift my soul to heaven for each and every day.
Your words touch my soul way down inside as I long to be with you, by your side
 GOD forever lift me, higher I must climb, to feel GOD’s essence in my mind.
 Father give me courage to brave the way, as the blessed angels carry me away.
 Lift my soul to heaven each and every day!

I was inspired to write this poem as I look to my mentor Maya Angelou and saddened at the loss of a literary treasure.Â
