Light bulb

I watch over the people
Nobody sees me except for a few people but
they never fully notice me
They notice the bugs that are attracted to the light
but even those bugs will fly away soon
Or they get to close
and die there

Even though I'm tightly screwed in I have a fear of falling
shattering as I hit the ground
but will I shatter one day no matter what

I was brand new
shining so bright
I quickly begin to fade
I get so dim that
the bugs aren't coming back
Ever again

They notice and take me from my place
my place of watch and wait
maybe watching was better
I always wished for more
but now they throw me away in a can, in a truck, to the ground
thrown around enough

I shatter
