Little Bird

Cowering in the corner, its body shivers

Fear has gripped its soul and holds it fast

Unaware of its abilities, it quivers

Oblivious to the chance within its grasp

The door of the cage hangs open, freedom’s waiting

A life is out there waiting to be seized

But still the prison’s confines are creating

An ignorance of what it means to be “free”

When born into this world, you held such promise

Of infinite adventure beneath the stars

Surely you were meant for much more than “this”

Imprisoned, soul and spirit, by these bars

Why can’t you only see what else is possible?

What can’t you know what you could truly be?

Those dreams you had while staring beyond the windowsill

Those wings were made to soar above land and sea

Hear me little bird, why don’t you do it?

Step forward, spread your wings and seize this day,

Your heart was meant to know and see the truth of it

You were never lost, you just forgot the way

To fly…to soar…to live with wild abandon

Beyond the rain clouds darkening the world

To forget the cage that stole you from your freedom

And caused you to forget that you’re a bird.

Pain,
Why does it always feel so wrong,
So far from peaceful, never strong.

Man's worst enemy

Man's worst enemy

Why, the greatest enemy of man is man
for man has subdued everything else
Fear not the tiger...
