Little blue baby

Tom was born
In 2004,
His mum gave 
Birth 
On the kitchen floor,

The doctor 
Arrived just in time,
She said
Save this 
Blue child of mine,

A week in 
ICU and 
The doctors 
Said they saw hope,
But 
It would be an up
Hill slope,

She said
Give me my shoes
I’m ready to climb,
Save this little blue
Baby of 
Mine,

Years of
Love and joy passed
She held him tight
And prayed it
Would last,

Every day
His mum would 
Smile and say 
This is divine
Thank you 
For saving this 
Little blue baby
Of mine,

Then in the
Year twenty twenty,
The gods thought 
Years of joy 
They’d had 
Plenty,

Tom said
Mum I want to 
grow old,
Live, laugh and
Love,
I don’t want
To feel this
Cold,

She stroked
His head,
And carried
Her little boy 
To bed,

Give me my shoes
I’m ready to climb,
Please save
This little blue

Mine,

Tom started to 
Cry,
Looked at his
Mum and said
I don’t want 
To die,

Dressed 
Head to toe 
In black,
She wore
Her sorrow on her
Back,

Only a week
Had passed,
This week
Would be her
Last,

She died from
A broken heart,
She couldn’t 
Bear to be
Apart,
Now she’s
Drifting through
The sky,
Singing
Fly little
