Little Girl

Little Girl

She comes into my dreams sometimes;
a daughter I do not know but she knows me
She clambers up wherever’s near
to whisper graces in my ear

“Thanks daddy for loving me!” she says.
I get that gentle peck on my beard
and feel like a first class champion
Perhaps it’s like that in another dimension

I see her standing so patiently
in a world far too expansive,
shifting her lean from foot to foot;
fidgeting and twidgeting

She curls a lock of hair,
sucks a thumb, and peers up
Everything’s too high for her small frame,
reflects in her pool-bright eyes

Where is she? I often wonder
has there been some kind of mistake:
a ladder in the silk of the orbits
Feels so close but so apart

Is she lost, or am I?
Perhaps one day she’ll enter here
and I’ll feel valued once again
in another person’s heart

Thanks Silent Dreamer... :D

And thanks for all your other encouraging comments... I am often quite strung out and just don't have energy to reply, but I really do appreciate it
