Poem -

Little Heart

Always spinning round and round,
Because I couldn't keep you bound.
Can't ever keep your heart in two,
Don't look at him like he loves you.

Even if I told you what he had done,
Fun times don't determine who has won.
Great, you've been split in half,
Honey, I told you to pick a different path.

Intelligence can't see past that act,
Just like hate can break a pact.
Kill or be killed, everyone says,
Let me show you why they play those games.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe he's nice,
Not vinegar or lemon but sugar and spice.
Oh, but darling, how wrong I am,
Presentable girls aren't seen with empty clams.

Quite the charmer, I suppose,
Roses and violets and pretty pink bows.
Say, sweetheart, what if it was a lie?
True the saying goes that there are some things money can't buy.

Until one day you realise,
Vigorous minds are not a carnival prize.
When you would know, I couldn't tell,
Xenodochial* minds could have easily fell.

You did it love, you saved yourself,
Zero cares for him in the world.

* hospitable, kind to strangers
