Poem -

Little Red Door

I think about you at night,
Your strength amazes me.
Fighting the toughest fight,
Yet staying as sweet as a pea.

Your endless smile brightens
The room like the sun,
While all our hearts tighten
As you come undone.

It’s hard to watch,
Yet we can’t go.
We just love you so much,
We want you to know.

It started so small,
A pain in your knee.
But it has grown so tall,
How could it be.

They say you have weeks,
Maybe a month.
Until further it leaks,
past your bones and your lungs.

We’ll be by your side,
Through day and through night.
We won’t let you slide,
Your fight is our fight.

Sweet girl, we love you.
You’re always in our hearts.
This isn’t the end,
But only just the start.
