Poem -

looking back.

Looking back,
When i look back it pains me to see,
This thing i called love,
That you couldn't be,
Always gone,
Excuses after excuses,
Somewhere else important to be,
Your very sacrifice,
Was always me,
It was us,
I stopped you having the life you had dreamed,
Well so it seemed,
While i was trying to live,
what i had dreamed,
To be loved,
To be a partner,
A mother,
A friend,
One day a wife,
It was you who was never there,
In the end,
Missing from our life,
And here i am,
With all the guilt,
This marriage flower,
Now dead in wilt,
The love the decade plus two i built,
The building upon its final tilt,
Destroyed,
Falling,
Fallen,
Failed,
A divorce decided,
Divided us,
To never try again,
Looking back it pains me now,
You never were my friend.
