Lost Lights

Lost Lights

Once our love shone brightly

like a Christmas tree in the darkness.

Thousands of tiny lights glowing on us

They started to go out little by little.

when we broke our trust with lies

some small I" will call tonight I promise."

a light went dark.

some bigger "I have to go

to a business dinner tonight."

a few lights disappeared

Some large lies

"I am not having an affair I swear."

A whole branch of lights went dark

Then the big ones

"I did not sleep with her, honestly."

sections of the lights extinguished.

Now on rainy nights in the tired city

My lights have all faded away.

I walk alone in the streets.

I am dark and alone.

In my reflection from the wet store windows

if you look very carefully

I have a few lights still shining

they are around my heart.
