Love Never Fails

Love Never Fails

Another day, another chance to mend, reform, rebuild
To fight wicked forces and crush divisions, rather than each other
Each of us dearly wants to be loved, but in this quest for what we need, we sometimes breed contention
Some egos seek to win, and bullets shoot from bitter mouths
They blow steam despite their best intentions to keep waters cool
Our most loved hold both the power to refresh and burn a heart
But we all must depend, all must take our leaps of worthy trust
Drop the weaponry and seek within, gentle tones of balsam
Sing for humility, pray away pride, for I am and you are human
There is no war if in peace you believe
And the graceful strength of forgiveness triumphs over all our faults and follies
All because love can never fail

Title demanded attention, I feel we have all been failed by love or the feelings of it at some point. Enjoyable read, as always.

Hmm. 🤔I feel it is the unloving behaviors/trauma bonds that fail, but the true love in relationships doesn't. Thank you Robert🙌🤗

Great point, I’m still a little bitter I guess, or wounded should I say. I like your point of view. I do feel more optimistic about “true love” I think it just becomes harder to notice it or recognize after each behavior/trauma bond that fails.

Understandable. It can be so hard to trust after trauma! For me it has become easier to recognize love because I have gotten better at recognizing abuse and how it differs... But perhaps that came with healing. I think for years I was drawn to abusive people because they were what felt familiar, so I mistakened a love bombing/abuse cycle for actual love.
Now I see that love doesn't hurt; it feels amazing! It doesn't fail us, but we fail it, at times, by failing to choose it or by being unloving. Unloving to others or to ourselves. We have all done it. Forgive, forgive.

Perfectly put, I think it speaks volume about someone who can overcome pain, trauma and grow into a forgiving person and loving. I’m happy for you and grateful to have a place like cosmo to share our battles and victories … ~Rob
