Love Is A Strong Word.

Love is a strong word
But I wouldn't know what else to call it
Even if it didn't exist
This feeling
I'd know what it was
Because you aren't just a spark
That started a flame
No, you are much more
Than the commencement of something so mediocre, controllable and tame
You are the gasoline poured over that very first flame
Igniting its surroundings
And engulfing this plane of existence
With this feeling that
Swallows me whole
And it is the only feeling I truly know.
It is a cavern so endless I wouldn't know its depths
Even if I spent a lifetime searching end to end
It is moonlight on a sidewalk
With a tree perched atop strategically placed cement
Carved within nature, the initials of those
Who know
Just as I do,
That love is a word,
Not big enough
To explain what goes on
When your heart latches on
And refuses to let go
It is but four simple little letters
A dictionary definition tethered
To make it sound boring, mystical, aloof
It is defining moment,
A word compiled of passion and cliches and pain and feeling
It is a word too small scale to describe how I feel
I hope, soon enough,
That I will believe
It is real
Because the existence
Of a presence
Such as yourself
Already seems
Like a gift
I am afraid
To receive.
