Maggie’s no more 🥲

He sits sighing in his solitude, rocking in his Maggie’s chair
Staring as fiery flames were rising higher from an old oak leg of a chair, he’d chopped for his was firewood, that was piled up on the hearth just lying there
He feels so lonely in these dark, dank December nights, coz there is no-one left to call in or even care
“Oh my Maggie how I miss you my love” he utters in his dreadful moments of despair
And as that fire sputtered and crackled, he listened to the sizzled sound
Then a little voice suddenly said to him “Harry my dearest, you need to get yourself a hound”
“Ay, I think I will my luv” as he glanced all around
Awww he picked up her suede slippers, that were still lying on the ground
So he switched off the living room light, as he yawned from his weary head
Then slowly he shuffled along the corridor, and he slumped onto his kingsize bed
And he closed his tired, tearful eyes and snuggled in her bedspread
Drifting in and out of dreaming, back to the days when they were wed
But that big old bed felt far too bulky, now that his Maggie was no more
He would treat himself to a single bed, and a nice new carpet for the floor
And he couldn’t wait to buy a little puppy, probably a golden Labrador
Then he fell fast asleep again, and no one heard him loudly snore…
