Poem -

The Maiden and Robber

maiden
fair
beautiful
warrior chasing
mantel blue around shoulders
rides to the maidens alone
maiden
standing before him
through howling winds and dark rainstorms
bloody death
three northmen
kill for her
snatching the maiden
through pitch black
weary he is
he rides on
he tells her
I sleep alone
thirteen maidens I have slain
on this plain
lays with the fair maiden
sleep overcomes him
silver braids she unties
hand and foot
awake
killing the sleeping
forbidden
knife of bronze in her hand
stabs quick where he lies
blood
death
hate
ravens come down
feasting follows
maiden keeps her virtue
