So I hid my tearstained hankerchief and I shaded from the light and I hoped that she couldn’t see my smudged mascara making me look an awful sight..

So I sang to her a lullaby just like my Mama used to do and I swear that I felt better coz I didn’t feel as blue..but then my dearest daughter opened up her tired weary eyes, she stared at me so strangely.. Oh this little girl was wise..

“Mama you’ve been crying, I can see it in your eyes, there must be someone hurting you.. don’t you tell me any lies”..
“Now don’t you go looking for things that are not anywhere”  and I tried to hide my feelings as I stroked her tussled hair,  and I wiped that teardrop from my face and I said “Your Mama is okay, now close your eyes my little one” amd I  turned the other way..
