MARIA, O MARIA
A Poem by Nimmy Willy

MARIA, O' MARIA
Tonight you’ll be
A humming song
My sky
My river
My dream
All I ‘ve kept in your arm
MARIA, O' MARIA
Don’t go away
Rebuking me and muttering cowherd retorts
With what words shall I curse you
Will you tell me the secret of drying up with passion
The water of the pond..
The sun burnt days of searching touch
Ah ‘ you may not like those curses and swears
Simple verbal game
Or, a day in Munnar*
Your swear
Your’s, your’s and
Your’s
MARIA, O' MARIA
I ‘ve been running after
Fire blossoms for some days
Eyes burning like amber
Hovering in ditch or swallow land
Hither and thither
I shall go anywhere
Feel as if I could peel away shudderingly
A sky
MARIA, O' MARIA
I‘ve kept in your palm
A sun like an amber.
