Mark 3:28-29
(A Commentary)

We thought we were being just a little bit naughty:
A dead insect here
A few feathers there
Some cacao beans
Enhanced tabaccoÂ
Soda in a bottle
A diamond or two
Some pedigree pets
A porno-flick to spice things up
>
How about that!
A dead baby for a youthful face formula
The 3rd car
That 5th leather bag
The 100th pair of shoes
The artificial beach
The portfolio of empty investment properties
>
And here we are dressed in the invisible wings of the ghosts of butterflies
A pile of bones returning to carbon
After the horror show of
sexploitation,
deforestation,
war,
mass migration,
pollution,
and starvation
Upon an oxygen depleted earth
>
If breath is spirit and spirit is breath
It seems Jesus was right
To banish the Father was pardoned
To murder the son was forgivable
But blaspheme the Spirit, and there was no coming back
Now the Earth spins eerily silent
A cold satelite among her lifeless kin

I really enjoyed this poem Al. It puts the materialistic way of life into perspective very well.
Nicely penned - SydÂ
Thanks Syd. I sure hope we find a more sustainable way.Â
