MARYAM BAHEZ

An overcrowded vessel set sail from France
The risks were huge did they know in advance ?
Britain was marked as their final destination
Hardly a holiday and was certainly no vacation
Maryam Bahez was born as the vessel set sail
A story so tragic I will tell you in this poetic tale

Maryam's father clutched to her tiny hands
While the vessel capsized not part of his plans
Maryam pronounced dead later in the water
A most terrible way to lose one's only daughter
This heartbroken dad wept and started to cry
Forty days old is most certainly too young to die

Some might say that migration is a utter disgrace
My view it's sad this incident has taken place
Maryam's father came here to work and provide
The same as any other Dads here and worldwide
Now he's lost something no money can buy
Forty years old is most certainly too young to die
