The Meaning Of Love

What is love if not the sum of shattered parts
Or the sounds of screams from a thousand broken hearts
Love is the thread that is coiled through our skin
Spun over and under with limitless string
Love is the darkness that blots out the soul
Or sometimes the glue that makes us all whole
Love is the thing weβve all learn to dread
And the thing that we dream of, lying cold in our beds
Love is a hand that longs for a touch
The paper that waits for a solitary drop
The staining ink, that tells of our sins
The caged bird who still seeks to sing,
Love is the sum of these shattered parts
And the only song known by every heart
