Memories

They are so very sacred, these memories that I chase;

For always when I catch one, it’s you, in my embrace!

And although they’re very fleeting, each one I so adore;

For they only stay a moment, but it’s you, that’s my reward!

I’d like to make them longer, like I wanted you to stay;

But I failed to find your panacea, and too early you went away!

I close my eyes and see you, I blink, and you are gone;

These images I’ll treasure, until the end of dawn!

In dreams we walk together, immersed in purest love;

In nightmares I’ve sadly lost you, sailed off, to stars above!

I wallow through life’s quagmires, depths depression drags me down;

I crawl to find a lifeline, to raise me ‘bove the ground!

Then all at once I find one, it lifts my spirits high;

It’s laying by a prism, sent down from out the sky!

It’s another precious memory, that makes me breathe anew;

And turns my heart to happy, for it’s another one of you!
