Poem -

Mending Time

An absent parent doesn’t make your ability to grow any less, an absent parent doesn’t prevent you from happiness.

For me personally I knew I wanted to rekindle an undeveloped relationship, for me I knew first I had to reach success.

Yesterday I called my biological father, yesterday I told him I finally was ready.

I told him we have an ocean under our bridge, I told him not to force me to look back or down.

An absent parent doesn’t make your ability to grow any less, an absent parent doesn’t prevent you from happiness.

We agreed if we came to the table nonjudgmental and from a place of love, we agreed to give ourselves another chance.

Yesterday I called my biological father, yesterday I told him I finally was ready.

I told him we have an ocean under our bridge, I told him not to force me to look back or down.

I told him I had a real tough life, I told him I got through it all without a father.

He replied back he was sorry, he replied back he has waited many years for this day to come.

If not for myself, if not for my sons, if not for my 6 half siblings I’ve never met, if not for any of that…

But rather for an example of pain becoming love, but rather for an opportunity for beauty to become.
