Poem -

Mercury

The light strikes the retina
Of my left, unblinded eye
That draws unto it the energies
Of sterile sight To keep adrift amid the anguish
Of ferocious isolation
In a world, minute and vast
Becomes a most arduous task
Further from the shoreline of asphyxiating joy
The eyelid swiftly shuts again to bring me
Back to the black, the safety of shade and
Dark
Grief and desperation wear down the exuberance
Of a once vivid soul, sending never to forever
In the four walls of this tiny, limitless heart

Your voice is now the catalyst for chemospiritual
Anomalies within the workings of my discordant
Calm

Hold fast hope that the time is near
Lest myself and I both disappear.
