METAL OR IRON

His voice this morning was in such fine fettle
As along the streets he shouted any scap metal
The trusty horse was also with him there too
If you haven't any metal he said iron will do

I kind of felt a little sorry for this man in rags
All his worldly goods in disused carrier bags
He reminded me of Steptoe from back in the day
Always on the lookout to feed his horse hay

This man was a character from part of my youth
Don't see his like anymore is sadly the truth
Any old metal or iron he's on the next road to me
Trying to make an honest living as you can see
