Metamorphosis

She said, look

All the fish have turned into rocks.

I saw water.

I saw the trees in the water.

I saw the clouds in the water.

I saw a spaceship in the water.

People crossed the river on foot.

A battle tank rolled across crushing the stones.

A lizard scurried across to the other bank.

Silence and darkness settled over the river.

There were no people now.

No lizards. No tanks. No ships.

We stood on the opposite banks.

Watching each other melting into the night.

We heard the roar of water.

Water came gushing from the hills.

The river let out its war cry.

We swam towards each other.

The rocks around us came to life.

They had turned into fish.

We too.
