Midnight Forest

Midnight Forest

Midnight forest alive and free.
A forest temple for the soul,
a luscious path unto the stars.
Soon I fall back to earth renewed.

Midnight trees in soft moonlit sheen.
Midnight mountains bathed in white light.
I lose my soul in their pale glow.

I was bound in the light of day,
but was set free by midnight’s world.

Shadows looming in the warm night
rise up to greet my waiting heart.
Shadow people walk beside me.
Shadow people with golden leaves.

Rolling meadows lay in the night,
giving my mind a bed of ease.

A beautiful church in the green
Heaven’s gate an endless steeple,
dewy grass for my restful pew,
falling leaves an angelic choir,
nature’s hymns a healing chorus.

Midnight creatures sing blessed songs
Their bodies held in midnight calls.
The quarter moon brings relief
with comforting light and hush song.

There is a sweet peace in these trees,
this haven for the weary mind.
Eden revisited once more
is this midnight forest of mine.
