Midnight Menaces

I was lying wide awake in the early stupid hours listening to my tinnitus with it’s humming drumming powers
Then from out of the dank darkness outside I heard some noises that made me cower and hide
But I looked out of my window and to my utter dismay there was a load of thugs well on their wicked way
Up to ill intent infact no good at all as I opened the window and shouted a call

There was four or five lads with one parked car and they were shining bright torches down our fields afar
They had five or six dogs on their thieving plight all running loose in the dead of the night
Well my husband yelled from our bedroom window and they turned around with some abusive inuendo
So I rang the police coz there was only us two and feeling abit vulnerable I thought it best to
The man on the phone took my information and said police were on their way to our destination

Well after dressing and waiting about half an hour more there was two traffic cop cars at our door
But there was nothing we could add that we hadn’t said before so the cars sped off to search and explore
Dam and blast that was me wide awake so yet another sleepless night for pity’s sake
I hope the police got them tho I will never find out but they stood every chance coz there was loads of them about
