Midnight Telephones

Brrr..Brrr….Brrr
The bedside phone,
Breaks the nights restful silence.
Awakened from the depths of oblivion.
The professional voice emotionless.
She died a few minutes ago,
it was peaceful and sudden.
Alone in the dark I weep.
Feeling insecure
like a small boy again.
A stupid thought comes to me.
Who will take care of me now?
Then I remember her soft lips.
Kissing me on my fevered brow
as a little boy.
The sweet fragrance
that was only hers.
Her face so beautiful to me.
I lay a dark blue suit on my bed.
Accessorized a black tie and white shirt.
Black for my mood white for her purity.
How come I did not call her last night?
Just to say thank you.
No much more than just thank you.
So much more.
I call her number
It rings and rings.
Then the machine picks it up.
I have to hear her voice again.
She ask me to leave a message.
I whisper
I love you mom.
