Mill Pond Sea

MILL POND SEA
Â
I've never met anyone who writes of love or uses words the way you do.
Your poems are like softly spoken showers that refresh and renew.
Mine resemble stories with a punch that hits you in the face
where love becomes an emotion I have a tendency to misplace.
Truly I feel blessed to have met a person, a poet like you
and whatever emotions it is I think I feel I know they are true.
Â
Love is not to be found with old family heirloomsÂ
hidden away in damp, dark, musty rooms.
Love is not an emotion that furtively creeps up on me.
No, it hits me then I float away on a mill pond sea.
Love cares not for boundaries or for distance
never questions its own existence.
As poets you and I communicate, we trust, sometimes that's not enough.
The words we write form themselves, they stem from love.
