Millions And Millions

Millions And Millions

When I was a young man, I dreamt of being rich, millions and millions I would make;

I promised myself, I’d work very hard, and I’d do whatever it takes!

I never achieved my farsighted goal ”comfortable”, but not very rich;

But life was okay, as I grew to be old, and I’d found my enjoyable niche!

I never expected those millions to come, as I entered my seventh decade;

But out of the blue, there they all were, but they were the kind I’d rather not made!

They came at a time that I’d least expect, the hour that you went away;

They were the tears that fell from my eyes, that night, and now, every since day!

For you were worth more than any amount, the wealth of my hearts desire;

I lived like a king, so rich in your love, with the treasured  passions of fire!

But now that you’ve gone, I’m a pauper again, for my holdings were invested in you;

My dividends were to pull you so close, and to deposit a kiss or two!

So now I’ve got millions, but you’re no longer here, my pockets are empty and broke;

Except for the ones of my dark saddened eyes, and the tears they daily evoke!

My liquid assets increase every day, for each one, I miss you much more;

The millions of tears that I generate, as my soul has been cut to its’ core!

Hi Cherie,

As usual, you are the interpreter of my heart!  As I wrote to Tony today, I so appreciate your kind comments on my poems.  I have eschewed reading poetry by others until I feel I've written the major part of my opus.  The reason for this, is that I fear I'll unintentionally plagiarize when reading a wonderful idea.  I promise you that in the near future I'm going to start reading and commenting, as you have been so kind to do for me.  By the way, did you happen to read the poem I posted last called "The Gifts of the Pundits", which was a tribute to you, Georgina and Tony?

Hugs, Love and Kisses,

xox Larry

Hi Cleo,

Thank you so much for your kind comments about "Millions and Millions".  It is not fiction, but based on the true story of my heartbreaking loss of a loved one.  Comments like yours give me the greatest pleasure for it is truly "them" that you honor.

Peace and Love,

xox Larry
