Mirror Lies

I look deep into the mirror.
At the girl that I once was.
She mocks me.
She yearns to take me back.
Back to darkness and uncertainty.
The place I’ve feared eternally.
Her arms reach through the glass.
Hoping that I’ll crack.
She tries to suck me in.
I fight her.
“Leave me alone, I cry!
Let me hide behind my silent cries and mirror lies!
This face I hide behind.”
It helps me get through each and every day.
That girl is where she should be.
Buried in the past.
If I hadn’t let her go, I’m afraid I would have snapped.
Again I stand and cry.
“Let me hide behind my silent cries and mirror lies!
This face I hide behind.”
I watch her face turn frozen.
Against the bitter glass.
I raise my middle finger, and forever turn my back.

Thank you very much Lorna :)
Chilling imagery! The central struggle between both girls is extremely well written...in fact, it's rather terrifying.
