Monochrome Moments

She wakes
To the sound of sirens

To an unsaturated room 
She waits for the sun

Warm body
Cold face

She walks to the window
There’s trash on the sidewalk 

Bus stop, people go
She hears muffled whispers from a couple below

Today is a day 
Where the sun won’t be shining
Where the strangers are distant
And the pigeons are near

Today is a day
She’ll be on the bus smiling
Watching unmemorable moments 

Thinking...
