Inside the hospital tv

I see my imaginary friend

He lives on paper and my left arm

Plans executed

Inheritance and a 7 hour flight 

Brings you to life, my life

I can feel the bars in my teeth

Anonymous uniforms laugh and point

Look and feel me up and down

Their contempt is palpable 

"what do you want to visit with that monster for?"

I'm imprisoned again

One door opens as one door locks

Taking me deeper inside

This giant steel belly

Eaten up, fatted up

For the slaughter 

I can hear the doctor's voice 

In the bricks and bars

The institution speaks to me

"An eye for an eye"

Chained like an animal 

Dressed in orange 

I only see your eyes

The medicated glaze can't hide the hope

We are locked in a cage

School children are herded in 

To look at the animals

The killer and the neglector 

Too easy to dismiss a human as a monster

Too easy to kill a monster

Too easy to dismiss murder as justice 

The perpetual routine

Monsters and robots 

Programmed

Institutionalised 

Condemned to die

Homicide and suicide 

We fight for life

Against the shadows

As she must have

Fought for life

She is part of me

Flesh and blood 

Flowing from her

Into the ditch you left her in

Her body broken

Her face tattooed

I think of her

I dream of her
