mourning dove

Did she know that night
When laying her head to sleep
The horror that lurks in wait
As her heart awoke her
Frantically sitting upright
In her cosy bed
Could she hear his last breath
escape within her head
The warmth from the blankets
to die fast in her cries
The way a withering flower dies
A very living nightmare
Upon opening her big blue eyes
The fate that was to be
Cold chills within her soul
As death came walking
And reaped his final role
A world spinning inside her head
Under the covers her sorrow's bed
Lay down the law's of forsaken love
His soul now reigns in heaven above
She Seeks the silence, a mourning dove
That echoes within her soul
Reminded in the wake of day
Death is the final living toll.
