My Best Friend (My Grandmother Passed Today)

For I lost a friend
A love few will ever know
For I lost a friend
And the pain is all that shows
My lord it’s times like these where I barely understand
Times where I feel I’m weak and can no longer stand
Or I’m weak and feel less than a man
Help me as I fear these tears will continue to run
My heart feels as if it’s been struck with a knife
And I feel as if in this war of life, I can no longer fight
My grandmother was my pearl 
My sacred home
She may be at peace but I’m lost and don’t know what is there left for me
Take care of her because she went back to the heavens she fell from
The stories we’ll tale when we meet again 
The laughs we’ll have
The smiles we’ll set forth 
I know that she beat us to the place we all desire to see
So in this hour in the night lord please let it be
That I can hear her voice one more time
And hear her say it’ll all be fine
Because I know that she’ll be kept in mind
As she’s touched so many lives
Others I don’t know and especially mine
So with that being said this is me saying the words that can barely be uttered
My family is hurting so if it isn’t too much to ask
Now that you have my grandmother
In time let us heal and rejoice with the sound of her voice
Because it is that, that will allow us to recover.
