Poem -

My body

I bet you were all taught
That your body is a temple
Don't be unholy to it,
You are the god,
And it should worship you.
But I,
Was not.
I would say mommy,
I don't think that I'm beautiful,
And my mother would say,
That's ok. You don't need to
-
You are a shell
One made to just move around this earth as a disciple.
But that was you,
You were a shell,
I am a temple.
A shell can allow the poisons of life to destroy the human.
My temple,
I'm the god.
I will walk this earth unlike you did.
Because I hope you look down
And see how holy my temple is.
I'm not a product of an environment full of shells
I've been blessed with a circle of temples.
In which you didn't love enough to stick around for.
I am blessed because I look down and see a temple.
I am a god,
I'm sorry you were not,
But I will love what your god gave me.
I'm blessed to have a temple.
