My Briar Rose
I know so little concerning the thorn
But think the thorn a chrysalis
Sullen, feral, intractable
But as time does moult away its bite
The eye, and time, do soon uncover
She who before was highest prized
As if a star were confined to womb
Of a heathered meadow's bloom
There, inconspicuous
Grows my Love,
My heavenly
Briar Rose...
Beautiful must be the gardens whence she come
Where lay this loving oasis?
O to wander there
And dance through lands that stir her blood
To bring her home, to witness her glow
Perpetuated
By a homecoming befitting a queen,
But no pomp or circumstance
Could dare compare
To the heart of her, no song could ever expose
The triumph she creates
In the heart of me,
My heavenly,
Briar Rose...

Just seeing "Rose" in the poem made me smile....I love it when my name appears in your write (sounds selfish, right?)...I love this....It's a deep one....LOVE and ROCKETS!!
Yes!!...I was thinking you might react that way.... so glad you did your ROSE-NESS!!.....I don't know how "deep" it is.... but I do know that you are NOT being selfish by enjoying your name within anyone' s construct!!...... We're all human that way!!.......Thanx for this girlfriend!!..... stay groovy!!,..,,,.smiles......T xo ?☀✴✳♥
A conviction and confidence run throughout this piece so concerned with effectively transmitting the power of love and its wonderful manifestations to enhance existence.
Great writing.
Warm wishes on this balmy day in Blighty !! :)
Take care my friend, always.
Hey SIR WATERS!!..... so what is "Blighty" ~ a town, hamlet, or something like that?....... I'm always curious about new places......thanx so much for the positive feedback brother poet .....appreciate it very much!!........ ttyl...., smiles.......Tbxl ?☀✴✳
:) " Old Blighty " or " Good Old Blighty " is the nickname British people give their country.
When abroad and feeling homesick a British person is likely to say " I wish I was back in Good Old Blighty! " ( "Blighty" is a term of affection ! )
Do Americans have a nickname for the U.S.A. ? Do you have a nickname for your home state ?
Hey Richard, when we're abroad many of us refer to our country as "The States"...... likely to hear one of us say (when homesick) ~ " I wish I were back in the states!".....a reference to the fact that our country is so big and so diverse!..... but no, most Americans don't have a nickname for their home State..... but each State does have its own slogan. Like my State's slogan, which is Virginia, is "Virginia Is For Lovers" because it has drop-dead beautiful foliage and landscapes. Cherie's State is North Carolina and her State Motto (or slogan) is "First In Flight" because it's where the Wright Brothers made the first manned airplane flight. Also each State's slogan is on the license plate on every car in the State, which makes them easier to remember...... Yay!!..... hope I didn't go overboard here! (smiles)...... this was fun!......ttyl bro!.......T xo ?☀✴✳
:) Thank you so much for this insight into American culture. Love slogans on the number plates ! Find state mottos based on why a state is significant in history a splendid educational tool.
Must visit the U.S.A one day because it seems so diverse. Variety is the spice of life !! :)
Take care my friend.

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,
I traveled far to "Shangra La"
To bring home my "Briar Rose"
At long last it is her I found
And me she also chose
Her beauty is beyond compare
External, and in her heart
It permeates my very core
And on my soul, does love love impart
Peace, Love and Rockets,
Larry xxx
