And so here I am in a dream
or so it would seem?Β
I've written many a yarn of a love once mineΒ
βββββfrom far away beyond the vinesΒ
but on deep reflection
I just cannot help but wonder...Β
If my greatest love affair
is actually with...
my darling London.

A home that's a spiritual home? Those are the best kind of homes. Your Soul tells youΒ
I come from London but I live in Florence Italy I have done for 22 years. My soul fortunately has two homes, thank you so much dear Rory, so very kind of you to come by and leave your lovely thoughts. πΉ
Morning Shirley. Love the reference to the vines of Italy in this poem. As I read and reread it I almost get the feeling that, if I sort of forgot about the question mark, it could be a poem in one sentence. You are expert at expressing so much in so few words and the adjective darling, not one we normally associate with a city, but absolutely perfect here, as is your poem my dear friend. πΉ
Good morning my dear Bernie, your review has warmed my heart as usual, London is my darling, it's where I last saw my mother and the word darling features heavily in my heart for so many things about my mother and of London. You know my poetry quite well don't you, although I shall hopefully always suprise my reader, you picked up on that one thing I myself never am sure about and that's the question mark, I wasn't sure if it was redundant or not. Your reviews help my vision and for that your a priceless friendship and poetry genius. Bernie, looking at the news just makes me want to go into my poems and stay there. London I always miss but when I do come home I feel like that fire is always within my heart my home will always be London and I am forever proud to be a Londoner. Thank you my dear dear Bernie. πΉ Happy Sunday.Β
As you should be Shirley - proud to be a Londoner that is. You are right about the news and about poetry being an escape. Once upon a time, not that long ago, I always believed that what poets and songwriters produced could change the world. I grew up during the era of the protest song. Sadly I'm not sure any more. It won't stop me writing my politically motivated poems but as for the pen being mightier than the sword, I'm not convinced any more.
Thank you so much for your reply my dear Shirley. We have a sunny but chilly day here today. Have a great Sunday and I look forward to your next poem. πΉ
