He lay there sleeping next to me
like a beautiful dream
I was dreaming wide awake,

I listened as every precious
breath escaped his lungs,

disillusioned by reality
a surreal experience,

The way his eyes closed tight
burned into my existence,

my heart viewing the world
in a new light,

I wonder what inspires such a
soul to burn so intensely,

heat pouring upon my lips
to kiss me the way he does,

awakening everything imaginable
and unimaginable no more,

The gentle light inside him
is no match for that of the sun,

my heart can't help but wonder
if he is the only one,

That opens my soul to dreaming
beyond The darkened night.
