My Fair-weather Love

My Fair-weather Love

For three years you stringed me along,
You made me believe that with you I could be strong
I brought to you my deepest of secrets,
But there was something I couldn't yet say.
The day before we talked of weddings
Not just one, but two!
So that both of our families could see the view
Of two lovers uniting from worlds apart
You said our love was so strong
surely nothing could tear us apart.
It was then that I knew or so I believed,
That telling you my pain would help put me at ease
I mustered the courage and wrote out the words
Of what happens when a girl drinks too much.
In a moment after, everything changed
I guess you couldn't bear the news
That your princess, your lover
She was just another broken soul,
And now I wake up every day alone
Wishing that I hadn't had so much faith in you.
