My Father

My Father
My father was a fisherman
His life was on the sea
He was the skipper of his boat
A weathered man was he
In his youth he went to Africa
& he was in the Royal Navy
He was well used to life on board
The bad weather would be wavy
Although his family owned two boats
The Sovereign was his
People used to admire him
At catching fish he was a whizz
My Dad was a quiet man
He always liked a laugh
I can recall at times
My Mam did say he
He needed a bath
Because he was the bread winner
Mam never had a job
But she had five children
She would be busy with her mob
My Dad he liked to smoke alot
Was just a normal bloke
But at the age of fifty eight
He suffered a big stroke
Well it left him in a coma
I recall him lay in bed
I was Oh so horrified
He had a blood clot in his head
He didnt go to hospital
Dr Bryes told us no
It could of made him
Worse if he was moved
& had to go
