My Father and me

Amidst my mindfulness of memories I can smell the salty sea
I swear I can sense my tastebuds savouring pungency
That strong saliferous, sodium chloride that is so familair to me
Oh how I love my homelands from back when I was only three
Those days in the summer sunshine when I spent my youth on the coast
My Father was a fisherman with a lighthouse as his lamppost
He was a mighty good seafarer he would be so bold to boast
I am convinced my Dad is an oceanic ghost
You see this man was a wise old sea dog, this bloke could navigate his ship safely in smuthering smog
As he spent all of his life in the beautiful briney bog
bringing home his catches was a long hard slog
But my Dad was born and bred on the shores by the quay
when he married my Mother and they made me
We all lived amongst the fisher folk happily in a close-knit harmonious community
