My first experience of racism

My first experience of racism

5yrs old. Playing with my neighbour
and everthing was alright.

My Mummy gave us each a lolly.
The kind thats made from ice.

We were both so young and innocent.
But all of a sudden she said.

My Daddy told me
that im not allowed to have a black friend.

After we'd finished those lollies
I went back inside
I didnt like wat i heard
But it didnt make me cry

I learned a lesson that day
Only thanks to  my loving Mum
That most  hatred is taught by adults
To those that are  very young

Being Me

Children do not see colour...only friendships. For the ones that do, it is definitely the adults in their lives that fuel prejudice.

My kids have always had friends of all colours and religions. Their friendship circles are all the richer for it. We are all people on this planet no one race or religion is better than another. We are all equal. We are one race...human.  I hate racism ?
