Poem -

My Forest

By Magic Bellmore, Queen of Chaos

My Forest

The pitter, patter of rain entrances me,
The rushing river speeds along beside me,
The bright green leaves whoosh next to me,
I am in love with the forest’s beauty.

The colourful birds astound me,
The roaring tiger’s entrance me,
Even the big croaking frogs capture my gaze,
But it is the huge cascading waterfall that really makes me fall in love,
This forest will forever hold my heart.

Then the forest started to die,
I was walking along the ashes,
Wondering how on earth this could happen,
Then I heard a noise,
I followed it to the source and saw men cutting down my trees.

It killed me from the inside out,
Knowing there was nothing I could do about it,
These men were not human,
They were just plain monsters,
There was smoke drifting up from another part,
I followed it to the source,
There I saw someone lighting fires,
They were only boys,
This drove up a wave of fury,
Deeper than anything before,
I flung my staff and cried out my heart,
This was happening to my home!

Slowly I walked home,
Tears dripping down my face,
Soon the ground began to flood,
It reflected all my pain.

Rain started to fall,
Whistling winds blew up,
I knew these men would never give up,
I wished I could have my home again.

All these people were so corrupt,
Why, just why was it my world that they blew up,
The next morning so very early I saw the fires were out,
It made no difference men just kept clearing all my trees,
Suddenly I heard a shout,
Good lord,
Run child watch out.

That was my life gone,
A candle they just blew out,
I live in the spirit of the river,
Watching my home die,
One by one the trees are gone.

It’s been 30 years and I’m standing all alone,
I watch my brother cry,
Every year for me,
I had so much love around me,
And now it’s all gone,
Then the day I died,
A boy,
Around the age of 18,
He looks like me,
He marched in,
Loud and clear voice,
He made them stop.

I watched him from the cascading waterfall,
The same one that captured my heart,
I protected him from any danger,
I watched with joy,
My heart swelling in pride,
After he was done,
He paid tribute to my river,
I showed myself and gave him a kiss,
I am so very proud of my nephew.

He saved my forest,
Finished the work I died doing,
He will never really be alone,
I will watch him and guide him,
Through the darkest times,
And show him the light when life goes black.

Nobody will ever destroy my home,
I am the guardian of the forests,
I will watch over all the children with the fire in their souls,
And the never-ending passion that I always have,
What do I say when they ask why this happens,
I tell them they can do anything,
And I will watch as they restore the world to peace.
