My Friend Fire

It flickers and dances,
Leaping and climbing,
It destroys everything in sight,
It creates room for the land to be reborn,
The monster creates bittersweet memories.

The glowing gold eye winks at me before running away,
The rain starts to cascade down,
I hear the dying flickers of my friend, the fire,
I go and watch as he dies out,
I watch and wait for the day he is recreated from the ashes,
And he once more roams the land,
Ruling over every creature,
Watching his domain with a glowing gold eye,
He is my friend the fire.
