My Heart

My heart has never felt this 
It's a different kind of hug and kiss

It's a joy and fear all at the same time
That someone so precious is all mine 

I have seen a trajectory  happen to my mother 
And the way it affected her by losing my brother

I never really knew what my mother has done for me 
Until I had children and became the person I wanted to be 

I might not be perfect and I make mistakes 
But I know I try my best and will do whatever it takes 

When my boys look me deeply in the eyes
I see a love that was never familiar before their lives 

My husband and I created them from love 
They completed our life and are watched from above 

I would want nothing more than to see my brother sit with them and play
But I'm sure it has already happened just in a very different way 

Damon has been telling me mommy ur beautiful 
And it's when I'm in pjs smeared makeup and hair like a fool 

But the point I'm making is the critisicm I've recieved about myself 
Is not based on what real life is about 

I'm his mother n he will always feel that way 
Doesn't matter if I'm tired stressed or how much I weigh

So in the end I'm to ignore the ignorant chatter 
Because the real people who love me will always be there and always matter
