"my heart in a cell"

my heart is my prison,
   and I'm doing life.
chained to the memories,
   of loving my wife.
no chance for parole,
   only hope is reprieve.
I'm locked in emotion,
   and ill never leave.
the sun never shines,
   when I'm locked in my cell.
as i stare out the window,
   into the memories i dwell.
your smile is all,
   that carries me thru.
the days are as long,
   as my memories of you.
when i see you again,
   in the heavens above.
i will be free of this prison,
   this prison called love.
