‘My Idols’

Gary Glitter, George Michael, Michael Jackson,
I adored these famous stars
This was my era
Just like David Bowie with his Ziggy Stardust & his ‘Life on Mars’

I stood as a child staring at them on the TV
These brilliant people were my idols, so magnificent to me

Some of them are tainted with
Oh so many stories
But I cannot forget what they meant to me
I can’t forget their glories

So saddened about the facts & the tales
Yes they are only human
With many wrongs & fails

Money is power & many had alot
Too easily corrupted
But It didn’t matter when I was just a tot
Coz I didn’t know, I loved my stars
With their brilliant records & their fancy cars

I can forget about the things
That the press & news does say
They were ‘MY IDOLS’
Top of the pops
My day
