My Kansas Home

On the eighth day of creation

God looked on this wondrous nation

And created Kansas for the world to see.

A place so full 'a beauty,

Honor, trust, and truth and duty.

A place pur't near Heav'n, seems to me.

The golden grain a wavin'

The meadowlark and raven,

The buffalo and cattle on the hills.

The ranges, rills and flat lands,

The "no where on the map" lands,

The golden sunflowers and the daffodils.

With Winter winds a blowin'

She is white with snow a glowin'.

In the Spring she wakes to flowers in full bloom.

In the Summer she'll alarm ya

With a twister that can harm ya.

But in Fall there's nothin' like the harvest moon!

The folks so kind and gentle;

Moms wavin' from the window,

A stranger there is rarely to be found.

A fellers' word is golden;

He means just what he told 'em,

With both feet planted squarely on the ground.

When troubles come a callin',

You just won't find 'em squallin'

But on their knees in prayer is where they'll be.

In the heartland they are nearer

To the One whom they old dearer

Than the difficulty 'round them that they see.

So when I'm near to dyin'

Don't anyone be cryin'.

Just lay me 'neath the Kansas soil, and then,

When coffin nails are driven

And I awake in Heaven

It'll be like home, 'cause I've already been.

Hello Robert...

Were you born in Kansas?

The reason I ask...

The first time I went through Kansas...

I got a warning from an officer because he tagged me going 60 mph and the speed limit was 55 and the speed limit had just changed...

I thought he was very nice because he didn't give me a ticket...

I had to stop to get gas...

The clerk was checking out my tag on my car and...

It read Florida...

Though I was relocating to Colorado...

She was extremely rude...

Thought to myself she must be having a bad day...

Looked at the time it was about 8 a.m.

Got my gas told the clerk hope you have a good day...

Drove until I saw a place that looked friendly to eat some breakfast...

Looks can be deceiving...

When I have to go through Kansas...

The scenery is nice, the winds are strong...

I get my gas and eats before I enter and I stop again after the sign says you are leaving Kansas...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs...

Sorry for your bad experiences in Kansas.  I have to admit, there are some bad people and places here, but putting that in would have kind of ruined the theme.  LOL.

Hello Robert...

LOL!

I thought God threw Kansas in to fill the hole...

Thank you for clearing that up for me...

Hugs...
