My Maya
Maya my dear you were so very far , but so very near
Your words drew shockwaves,and lavished my ears
The sound of your voice was very clear
You were diginity at its best , your trials and errors spoke for themselves
as you overcame them to inspire me , the clarity you gave was so very free
Poetic Justice was a story you told; the misery of a young woman who
went cold; although your gone your memory is not lost
My mother , my friend, my sister, my kin, this describes all of
you, your memory so sweet so true. My Maya this poem is dedicated to you.

No , but us writers i feel are all connected.
Great job Jennifer, I too felt pain and dispair from her passing, I also wrote a dedication to her....as I kid I met Maya Angelou and heard her read one of her works in person and she was and still is an amazing person. I loved this piece.
