My Memory Man

My Memory Man

When things get rough and good times seem far between and few
I can hardly recognize an old day from a new
It can seem as though the world was made to be unfair
It can seem as though just no one will take the time to care
But I won't need quick solutions like smoke or food or drink
Just give me a couple minutes and let me start to think
I'll take a little ride and visit someone without even leaving the land
He's on my side and we're still having fun, me and My Memory Man
He's traveled through rain with me, suffered through pain with me
And I know he's always there
He"ll never ask more than the simple reward of just being able to share
Such a truly loyal friend who knows everything I've done
We laugh at the hard times and cry for more good times without telling anyone
He keeps everything confidential, he knows others may not understand
I don't know where I'd be without him, thank you my Memory Man
At times I do neglect him, knowing not that it's hurting him so
At other times I select him but he won't come til I let him know
That he's my Memory Man, my every solution, not smoke or food or drink
Just me and my Memory Man and a couple of moments to think
