My moorland stroll

My moorland stroll

Lazily loitering amongst the bracken on the moors
Suns rays shining bright
This glorious day is a welcome cure
Perfection this summer delight

Mosaic grassy pathways lining my way
Delicate cotton grasses in abundance lay
Butterflys flicker freely past me
Brown streaked skylarks sings sweetly

High above my little town
The valley gives me my views
Green grass sun burnt kissed
With golden coloured fern hues

Can this canvas be sanctuary
Paradise on Earth
I feel its emotional welcome
Harbouring my mirth

Lapwings swooping & diving
Hauntingly wild & frolicing free
Joyously seeking outΒ  spiders for their tea
